Adam IsraelClarion Write-a-Thon Writer
Excerpt Crows were surrounding him, smothering him, and pecking at the flesh on his arms, legs, chest, and back. He tried to fight them off but they were too many. Pain wracked his body and images flashed in his mind. The stench of blood and sweat overwhelmed him and he remembered himself hanging from a tree. Words came to him unbidden. "For Asgard," he shouted. "For the Aesir. For Valhalla."
Bio After having lived and worked in Chicago, New York City, and Los Angeles, Adam Israel has expatriated to southwest Ontario, Canada with his wife, three dogs, and three cats. A graduate of the 2010 Clarion Workshop, he divides his time unevenly between writing and wishing he were writing.
Notable Publications
Writing Description People are varied, complex creatures capable of great and terrible things. What make stories worth reading, and what I attempt to write, captures those people on the best or worst days of their lives.
Write-a-Thon Goals This is my first write-a-thon, and a year since I attended Clarion. My goal is to rewrite or revise and submit the stories I wrote last summer. I'll also be sending postcards with snippets of story or story-related doodles to donors.
Public Fundraising Goal What Clarion has done for writers such as myself is invaluable. Anything I raise will be appreciated, but I'll be thrilled if I can raise $500 for the program.
