The interceptors caught up with Harvie sooner than she expected. First three sleek shapes, glistening in the sunlight like large pointed drops of mercury, appeared in rear view monitors, then another three. They followed her in an honorable escort, not shooting, simply hanging in space like a huge sparkling ring. She moved the speed control up. The ring centered on her and began to tighten.

Bio

I was born and grew up in Siberia; then, just over 10 years ago, came to settle in England (Warwickshire -- county of writers, from old good William to gutsy gal George Eliot and SF writer turned academician China Mieville). And, just to keep our life more interesting, my husband and me currently reside in Holland. Talk about "the global village"!

After having been a laptop-wielding road warrior for a few very busy years, I am now catching up on my long-postponed dreams. Which means that in addition to writing fiction I'm also sweating on essays for my MA in Creative Writing at Essex University.

My creative challenge for this year is to finish the near-future adventure novel I've been working on and try to find a good home for it. And make a bunch of new friends to share the joys and sorrows of writing process.
